THE REPORT OF MY 43RD AND LAST MARATHON

LUTON 1993

TRANSCRIBED FROM EMAIL OF THAT DECEMBER TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY

================================================================

Dear Friends...

Last weekend Pam and I travelled to Hemel Hempstead to combine a visit to our friend Frances with the Luton Marathon.

On Sunday 7th December 2003, I completed the Luton Marathon in a time of 5h01m43s. This was not quite my slowest ever marathon. I have now completed 43 of them.

The Luton Marathon is tough, because it consists of 3 laps, with the result that slowcoaches like me are overtaken in the second lap by the speedy runners on their third!!!

I must thank Pam for standing around for ages in the freezing cold to greet me at the completion of each lap. Of course I didn't feel the cold so much because of the heat generated by running.

I am hoping that my next marathon will be the Shakespeare at Stratford on April 25th, and be warned that I may ask you to sponsor me in that one!!!

Merry Christmas...

...Frank Doherty
